Elbow deserve an inclusion here, not only because they're a bloody good band but also because they hail from Ramsbottom in Lancashire, a village not noted noted for its musical pedigree

Richard Walters : "The Animal"
Richard Walters is one of those guys who appears to have been around for ages, I've been following his music on the net for around 4 years now. He truly is a musician's musician, doing what he does best and not compromising his art for the sake of a fast buck. He's recently teamed up with Carly Sings for a joint project ... more on that later.
Meantime...here's Richard....

Rubyhorse : "Goodbye to all that"
Whilst I will try to post details of new albums I also want to mention those gems that I have only recently 'discovered' but which may have been out for some time.
This is just such an album. I first heard 'Fell on bad days' whilst watching the TV series "Rescue Me" (which I can also highly recommend). I guess this illustrates the point of this little corner of the net...I just know what I like when I hear it and I want to share those moments with anyone who stumbles in here.

Holly Miranda : "The Magician's Private Library"
Renee Fleming : "Dark Hope"
I'm always wary of selections of contemporary music released by Classically trained singers, to my ear they can never relax their voices enough to give the necessary 'dirt' required by 'pop' songs and find it almost impossible to leave behind all of those years of training that take them to the top of their chosen art.
Renee Fleming is a hugely notable exception. She has an album "Dark Hope" due for release in June 2010 and, having heard the promos, I'm licking my lips at the prospect of hearing the full versions of her chosen songs.
This is her version of Muse's "Endlessly".
Imogen Heap - Ellipse
INTRO
This is a spot where fellow Boomers, who are not yet ready to accept that life is now all "pipe and slippers", can come and catch up on what is going on in the world of music.
Music has been my passion for my entire life, and I'm still fascinated by the way it shifts and adapts to the era that gave it life. I have just recently discovered the wonders of digitally composing music using purpose-built software and musical instruments specially adapted to be used, not only for producing music but also as a piece of computer hardware. (Don't worry I won't be using this blog as a means of assaulting your eardrums with my somewhat amateurish offerings).
OK .... enough of this babbling ... on with the music.
I intend to post samples of new albums that have caught my interest, this doesn't necessarily mean that you, dear reader, will share my enthusiasm for a particular artist or their music...that's what makes the world go round ...individuality. So please feel free to add your own recommendations. Contemporary music isn't just for the kids ... it's for those whose lives have been shaped by it ... and that includes us !! ..... Rock 'n Roll !!!!!
